DESCRIPTION:Come and enjoy learning to sail on the tidal River Medway.  We have a fleet of toppers for you to learn the basics before venturing into our double handlers. \nYou will get 2 hours on the water but in order to enjoy the full sailing experience please arrive 30 minutes before the published session start time so that you can learn to rig your own boat. DESCRIPTION:Come and enjoy learning to sail on the tidal River Medway.  We have a fleet of toppers for you to learn the basics before venturing into our double handlers. \nYou will get 2 hours on the water but in order to enjoy the full sailing experience please arrive 30 minutes before the published session start time so that you can learn to rig your own boat. You will also need to de-rig and put the boat away so allow another 30 minutes at the end. \nThe RYA OnBoard grassroots junior programme offers young people the opportunity to try out sailing in a safe\, structured and fun environment. \nOpen to anyone aged 8-18\, the programme enables those taking part to experience all the excitement and relaxation that being on the water offers\, whilst at the same time teaching them a wide range of invaluable life skills\, from problem solving to leadership and teamwork. To enhance the learning experience there will also be some land based activities during the season\, particularly if the weather is poor. \nIMPORTANT: Please wear old clothes and suitable footwear i.e. trainers or water shoes. SUMMARY:RYA OnBoard Junior Sailing
DESCRIPTION:Come and enjoy learning to sail on the tidal River Medway.  We have a fleet of toppers for you to learn the basics before venturing into our double handlers. \nYou will get 2 hours on the water but in order to enjoy the full sailing experience please arrive 30 minutes before the published session start time so that you can learn to rig your own boat. You will also need to de-rig and put the boat away so allow another 30 minutes at the end. \nThe RYA OnBoard grassroots junior programme offers young people the opportunity to try out sailing in a safe\, structured and fun environment. \nOpen to anyone aged 8-18\, the programme enables those taking part to experience all the excitement and relaxation that being on the water offers\, whilst at the same time teaching them a wide range of invaluable life skills\, from problem solving to leadership and teamwork. To enhance the learning experience there will also be some land based activities during the season\, particularly if the weather is poor. \nIMPORTANT: Please wear old clothes and suitable footwear i.e. trainers or water shoes. Flip flops and crocs are not suitable and you will not be allowed to participate. Also bring a towel and dry clothes to change into.

DESCRIPTION:Regular session opportunities to practice and refine your sailing skills on the River Medway (tidal) with an experience that’s fun\, confidence‑building\, and designed to get you genuinely hands‑on from day one. If you’re a beginner you may start in our lively fleet of Toppers\, perfect for mastering the basics\, before moving on to our double‑handed boats as your skills and enthusiasm grow.\nWhat makes this experience special\nOur sessions are built around real time on the water\, supported by friendly instructors who keep things safe\, relaxed\, and encouraging. Even when the weather isn’t ideal\, the learning continues with engaging land‑based activities that help you understand sailing from every angle.\n👥 Who can join\n• Ages 16+\n• Able to launch and recover a boat independently\n• Able to right a capsized boat without assistance\nAn instructor will always be close by to guide you and help you progress at your own pace.\n⏱️ How your session runs\nYou’ll enjoy 2 full hours on the water\, but the full experience is a little longer:\n• Arrive 30 minutes early to learn how to rig your own boat\n• Allow 30 minutes afterwards to de‑rig and pack away\nThis extra time helps you build real sailing know‑how and confidence.\n👟 What to wear and bring\nTo stay safe and comfortable:\n• Wear old clothes you don’t mind getting wet\n• Bring trainers or water shoes\n• Flip‑flops and Crocs aren’t allowed for safety reasons and you won’t be able to participate without proper footwear.\n• Bring a towel and dry clothes for afterwards as you are likely to get wet! \n
